It may only be August but we are busy planning flu clinics and starting to get appointments booked!
Did you know that the practice has to buy in flu vaccine especially for our eligible patients. If patients have their vaccination elsewhere this could lead to a financial loss to the practice and vaccines being wasted.
Over the last couple of years we have seen a decline in patients having their flu vaccination at the practice and we have been working to find out why this may be and what we can do to best support our patients.
In September we are able to vaccinate:
– 2-3 year olds
– Pregnant patients
– Patients aged 6m-17years in the high risk category
We are awaiting our confirmed delivery date for vaccine and the announcement that we can order the nasal flu for the 2-3 year olds. Once we have this information we will be sending out appointment booking links. We suspect that clinics will be from mid September but as soon as we have the dates we will get invites out.
From October we are able to vaccinate the remaining eligible cohorts:
– Patients aged 18-64 in the high risk category
– Patients aged 65 and over
We will be starting to send booking invitations out this week and we have appointments available everyday that we are open in October! Thats right there will be available appointments Monday-Friday through October. We have some dates where appointments are available up to 8pm. We hope that we have provided plenty of choice and availability for our patients that can fit around day to day routines.
Please use the booking links you will be sent if you are able to. We will not be sending all invites out at once as we do not have the capacity to answer increased phone calls. If you are not able to use the booking link please wait until you receive the message before calling the surgery to book.
Thank you in advance for you support!
